Maslinica

This small village with the most breathtaking sunset is located on the west side of Šolta. Archipelago of seven small islands (Polebrnjak, Saskinja, Stipanska, Kamik, Balkun, Šarac and Grmej) is just one of many things that make Maslinica one of the most beautiful places on the Adriatic coast. Restoration of the castle into a hotel and the construction of a nautical marina are turning this village little by little into the tourist centre of the island that greets more and more guests each year. Apart from Maslinica, the boaters find the neighbouring bay, Šešula, with its safe anchorage and unique gastronomical experience very attractive. During the year, Maslinica has about 200 permanent residents, but during the summer the number grows, and its accommodation’s capacity is about 400 guests.

WHAT TO SEE
Start your day in Maslinica by renting a boat from the local agency and go out for swimming on one of the islands nearby. Pick one out and rest assured that you will spend your day in total peace and quiet. Or you could simply stay in the village, order yourself a cup of coffee in the beach bar and go to the beach for a swim. For those in search of a more active holiday, we recommend paint-ball. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you experience the most majestic sunset on the island. Take a walk to St. Nicholas’ Church in the evening and enjoy the spectacular view. Continue your walk to the Šešula bay 10 minutes away, where you can have a memorable gastronomical experience in one of the two local restaurants. If you do decide to spend your evening in the village, we recommend you visit the gallery of autochthonous products from Šolta called “Šoltanski trudi” and buy a unique souvenir that will remind you of our island. On Thursdays and Sundays, the centre hosts exhibitions of “Šoltanski trudi”, the most active society on Šolta. Take a walk in the marina and you just might come across one of the many concerts taking place in the Amphitheatre. Round off your evening with a visit to the restaurant that has the most beautiful terrace and view on the entire island, and after that, have a relaxing night cap with a cocktail on the waterfront.
